High-Profile Cases

Some deaths in custody have been publicly known, for instance a senior hospital director who died in confinement after four months in detention.

A detainee incarcerated with the deceased stated that he was brought to the courtyard by prison staff just prior to his passing, clearly wounded and naked from the lower body. His remains remains unreleased to Gaza.

Further inmates who lost their lives in confinement by Israeli authorities are unidentified. Detention administrators and defense forces provided investigators with the figure of fatalities in detention, and basic further data for example the location where they perished, but excluding the prisoners’ names.
