19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition final.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - led to him exiting of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now training with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set victory over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden title since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies Medvedev has secured 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a competition with my both daughters together, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his past six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on court had led observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair swapped break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his maiden professional championship, took control to push for a decider.

The opponent saved 4 early-game break points in a tight deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he earned the win with a point at the net, with his opponent unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
