Singer Susan Boyle has stated she was "so incredibly touching" to discover that Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet listed her as one of his greatest Britons.
The American film star named the Scottish singer alongside other luminaries such as seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, celebrity duo David and Victoria Beckham, and underground rapper Fakemink.
"She dreamt bigger than all of us," he said, reflecting on her 2009 Britain's Got Talent audition of I Dreamed A Dream from Les Misérables. "It moved everyone who saw it."
In response, Boyle said she was "immensely grateful," continuing: "Those early days were quite something, and to discover that moment resonated to you all these years on is genuinely humbling."
Boyle concluded: "We all start somewhere, with a dream and a bit of hope, don't we? We should all dream big!
"May you find continued triumph as you follow your aspirations. Thank you for your generous words and for remembering that moment so fondly. With love, Susan."
A Promotion with Purpose
Chalamet's remarks came while he was talking about his latest project Marty Supreme. The film's associated marketing has involved him giving custom apparel to individuals he admires he deems to be genuine legends.
People who have received the jackets have reportedly encompassed artist Frank Ocean, American football legend Tom Brady, and football prodigy Lamine Yamal.
A Remarkable Selection
Boyle's mention was seen by many as an unexpected pick when the award-winning actor was questioned which British personalities he would deem worthy.
It is worth noting that Chalamet was just 13 when Boyle rose to stardom after captivating viewers and judges with her television debut for Britain's Got Talent, a clip which became an instant internet phenomenon.
"I recall it vividly," the actor noted. "That was like the advent of YouTube, you know."
